Concert Trés Trés Privé, Olympia, Paris, France - 19 January 2006 by Mailla Well, there are concerts you enjoy and there are concerts de puta madre !! All started when radio RTL2 announced in November that a new Concert Très Très Privé would be held in l’Olympia in January. The good news was Texas was invited between Starsailor and 2 other french artists called Marc Lavoine and Jean-Louis Aubert. The program was ok, not a big fan of the others but still ok for me. Forward to Thursday 19th january, we arrived in the queue at 5pm, not many people were already here, so it was pretty cool. I came earlier at l’Olympia to take my tickets and i met the guys from Starsailor. We knew Texas wouldn’t be here in the afternoon because they were shooting a TV show earlier that evening. At 7pm, they opened the door, so we ran to the front and we were at the second row; which was pretty cool. I changed my habits and I went to stand on Tony’s side of the stage. The show started with Marc Lavoine, who is known to be one of the sexiest french men for many years. Oh yeah i must admit I found him damn sexy !! lol He did some of his very famous songs and some others I didn’t know. Unfortunately he hasen’t done the one I was expecting ("Les Yeux Revolver" for people who can be interested in that...). Then, Starsailor hit the stage. They did an acoustic show; 2 guitars, 1 bass. I really appreciated the show. They did some of the most famous ones like Alcoholic, Silence is easy, Four to the floor... The singer, who’s called James i think, said he was pleased to see the audience is so attentive here, because in England people are always drunk and speak and shout during the shows ! lol It’s another atmosphere in a way... I think I’ll go back to see them live. I have no idea what time it is, i have no idea how hot it is in here but I’m sure Texas will come right after ! Their roadies were preparing the stage for them. I saw the drums and the guitar pedals so I realised it won’t be an acoustic show. This was actually pretty good news, because yes Texas is great acoustically, but I prefer them waaaay much better when they plug the guitars ! We all were waiting for them and the venue was hot hot hot ! Well they all arrived they have been generously cheered by everybody and Inner Smile started ! Here is the complete setlist: Inner Smile - Can't Resist - Black Eyed Boy - Nevermind - Summer Son - Sleep - Say What You Want - Getaway / Halo. I must say they totally rocked the place. This was my 10th Texas concert and it is definitely in the top. First cool thing was that many of my texas friends were here (always some are missing...). Then, the band was really into the show. It was great to see the guys were more present on stage. Tony and Ally moved from one side to the other one, approached the front stage... Michael, well Michael is Michael, no need to introduce him to you. Sharleen was joking with the guys. She was in top form. She joked a lot, talked to us.. She even said some veeeery bad things in french, so indecent but sooo funny !! I couldn’t believe it ! Man !! She was in direct on a national radio and she totally broke the rules ! Last but not the least, Texas playing the Olympia !! Wow, this is one of the best venues in Paris, the acoustic is brilliant, the stage is at the perfect size, so many great artists came here before... It was actually one of my dreams to see them here. I really like the new materials in live. I think Getaway and Can’t Resist really rock and the old good stuffs are always pleasant to hear. We all stucked together with pals to make a big jumping party ! After such a success for the encore, they finally/hopefully came back on stage ! Sharleen said that we have to choose between In Demand and Halo. Of course I went totally mad when we had to show up for what song we wanna go for. So glad the audience had the same opinion as me, we had Halo !! A concert without this song would have been unbearable ! lol Especially for my 10th concert, you know it’s like a birthday; especially in l’Olympia ! Anyway, for this last one we gave all what we still had; which means not a lot after a gig like this !! lol No I’m kidding, I’m always on good mood for Halo ! I asked my neighbours if they liked the show. The girl next to me spluttered something like “Oh my god, they are totally ace !” Me happy !! Some of my friends who were there too but who are not texas fans also confessed the concert was amazing ! So after Texas, we moved back because we were dying because of the heat ! We went for a beer and a little chat before looking at the last act: Jean-Louis Aubert. He also rocked but I didn’t stay until the end. We all went for a hamburger outside the Olympia. Then Léo and I had to catch a taxi to get back to my home under the rain... And I unfortunately only slept 3 hours and a half since I had to wake up at 6am for work ! This sucks hard !! Anyway, shall I add again this concert was pure dead brilliant ?!! lol Thanks again to the band for all the great moments and special thoughts to my texas friends (present or not at this concert) for making those moments even much better !! |
