City Hall, Newcastle - 4 October 2005

by Malcolm

It had been a while since I had saw Texas live. The last time being in October 2003 as part of the Radio 2 festival in Newastle. I was looking forward to this gig. Managed to get great seats (second row from the front and in the centre of the stage).

At 9pm Texas came on stage. Started of with "I Don't Want A Lover" and then bleted out some of their most famous hits to date. Some of the new stuff they sang sounded great! "Nevermind" by far my favourite. When Sharleen mentioned that they were going to sing one more track, I looked at the time and it was almost 10.30pm! They then came back and did 2 encores (one including the Scissor Sisters hit "Take Your Mama").

As usual, Sharleen was on form with the audience, and at one point dragged a guy up on the stage for heckling!! Texas are one of the very few bands that I have seen that actually sound like they do on the CDs when you see them live.

After the concert, we hung around the stage door and managed to get a few photos and a roadie on the stage gave me a setlist which I managed to get autogrpahed by Sharleen herself. Even managed to get in a kiss after I got my photo taken with her. A great end to a fantastic night!
