Sporting Summer Festival 2006, Monaco - 24 July 2006

by Rosie

Me and my mum were staying with friends in Monaco for four days and they decided to take us to a Texas concert there for a treat. This was no ordinary concert. Oh no! This was a dresses and heels and suits kinda concert with a three course meal beforehand! The most random concert I'd ever heard of! It was the most amazing thing ever. You drive up and a man in a tux opens the car door and parks your car for you. Then you walk into this huge and gorgeous building. We gave in our tickets and walked in and I was gob smacked! There were loads of long tables with flower arrangements and the people. Oh my god the people! You walked down the luminated steps with the whole room watching you and probably pulling your outfit apart like you were doing to everyone else's. You even got asked if you wanted a photo and watching the poses was hysterical! The meal then came in, immaculately presented although the food was a bit posh and completely random for my taste.

Once the food was over, the roof opened, the stage slide forward and there came Texas in all there glory. Sharleen was fantastic with her quick and funny retorts when asked to get her kit off. She promptly invited the jeering bloke to get up on stage himself and do the honours giving him a vital piece of advice, "to never fuck with a girl with a microphone"! Classic!

The audience was quick to destroy their carefully arranged floral centre pieces and lob them at the beautiful Sharleen. I was certainly enjoying chucking flowers at Michael and Tony who got so into the music it was such a pleasure to watch, though I missed loads of times!

Tony had a woman in a white frilly dress eyeing him up all night, it was so funny, he didn't look that impressed and she looked like a hooker, though she was pretty satisfied when he came to the front, as was I!!

Oh God and there was even a Bowie v Elton John contest. Man the concert had it all. Swearing, great music, tacky dresses, flowers…..

And at the end when Michael gave me his drum sticks, oh my God, amazing! You were so far away I kept on missing you even when I through the flowers as far as I could, I want your gorgeous self nearer next time!!

And after the encore Tony gave me his plectrum, woah I love you guys! I guess you do it at whatever chance you guys get to make many girls happy and it felt amazing!

Such a fabulous night! Thank you!
