Rain of happiness

It’s completely useless to wrap it in: it’s fair to say that Texas’ last cd was a flop. Not only some songs were to blame but also the fact that Texas didn’t tour after the album’s release.
Because Texas is a band that does itself justice on a podium, it was on the list of wants of the Marktrock organizers for quite some time.
With Sharleen Spiteri, Texas has not only a great singer but she’s also a frontwoman who turned performing into an art. She immediately caught the crowd’s attention and although the rain was pouring down, nobody seemed to care about it. There was enough diversion of course. Over the years, Texas has collected enough hitsongs so that they could easily open with “I Don’t Want Lover”.
It was clear that the last few years, the band missed being on the road and there was a smile on every band member’s face, as if they’d just cashed their winning lottery ticket. That enthusiasm ignited the crowd and in a nick of time, the old market turned into a festival region. Motown-soul, summer pop, oriental influences, piano-ballads and eighties ‘electro’ overflowed into each other just like alcohol in a cocktail and the handful new songs clearly indicated that Texas is ready to claim their position at the top again. Saturday, nobody doubted that they’ll succeed.
