TEXAS WARNS MADRID:
CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

Excited people were listening to Bob Marley’s music that was playing to pass the time. People were waiting for the moment, it had been a long time since their last appereance in Spain.

And then, they appeared: TEXAS was in Madrid again!! Sharleen Spiteri, Eddie Campbell, Johnny McElhone, Ally McErlaine, Tony McGovern and Mark One came back to Madrid with a new member: Neil Payne (drums)

Texas started delighting us with “Telephone X”, a new song frome their new album CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. After, Sharleen talked a little with the audience; I have to admit she is very nice, and she showed her good sense of humor joking with us.

Just to remember old times, the next song was “Inner Smile”, an unreleased song from The Greatest Hits (2000). A new “Careful what you wish for” song was played: “Broken”, with Shar and her guitar. Without a breath, “Halo” (White on Blonde, 1997) was played in an explosive-three-guitar version. Texas reminded us of the album “The hush” (1999), when they played “In our lifetime“ (OST of Notting Hill). Then, they played “And I dream”, the best song of the new album, in my opinion.

The party got to a hot point when “Summer son” (The hush album again) began to play. It was a good combination of guitars and keyboards Sharleen asked for silence, because they were going to play “I’ll see through”, a song composed by Johnny, Sharleen and Guy Chambers (composer of R. Williams too)

“Where did you sleep?” was the next song, and after, audience could heard how powerful Sharleen’s voice is when Texas played “Black eyed boy”. A new song from CWYWF was played: “Carnival Girl”, but Kardinall Offshall didn’t come and Suncycle (“Carousel Club”) substituted him.

When the song finished, Sharleen said goodbye, but a couple of minutes later she and Eddie came back just to play “In demand” in an acoustic version only done in Newcastle on 4th October. The rest of members come back to in order to played another song that belongs to the new album, but which they hadn’t played in Glasgow (30th September) and Newcastle: “Careful what you wish for”

And finally, the last song and the best live song for me: “Say what you want”. First, they played the original song and after a rap part with Suncycle.

In my opinion, the concert was incredible, their live is great and the ambience was vey nice. Texas and the audience were satisfied.
