Concert review
Hammersmith Apollo, London - 16 May 2006

Okay have to say felt really proud about attending my first Glasgow gig with Texas and didn't feel it would be topped, however got back from London this morning and am still reeling from it all!! This show nearly didn't happen for me last night. After queuing for hours me and my friend got to the front and as it was nearing for the Upper Room to start I suddenly felt really unwell, became sweaty, clammy, my legs where nearly buckling (and would have only that I was at the front holding the bar!) The room suddenly went a dark red and everyone's voices where getting quieter. Suddenly the Upper Room came on and when I looked at the stage all I could see was yellow, no people!! After that whatever it was slowly passed and by the time the Upper Room had finished it has passed. Thank God is all as I can say because that show was absolutely f*****g amazing. I've done four gigs this time round and really didn't want last night to end cos' I knew I wasn't going to be enjoying a live performance from these guys for a good while again. I could just watch Texas forever, I leave feeling so good and happy as I hope everyone else did. Watching so many of the gigs you know what's gonna happen but it doesn't matter cos' its still just as good and exciting as the first time round. Sharleen just goes from strength to strength and when she feels the crowd is with her she absorbs their energy which she most definitely did last night. The Carling Apollo was a smaller venue than what they had played previous nights and took me back to last year when they played smaller gigs. The atmosphere is so much better! I'm sure they are probably nailing the roof back on as I type!

The set-list was the same as previous nights however they do appear to have dropped Carnival Girl since Glasgow which is a shame cos' I don't feel Careful what you wish for should be ignored as it was a classy album, (pity telephone X was never released!) Any who! Sharleen toyed with the crowd as she so teasingly does, whether it is banter! Or just generally dressing up! (Love the military style jacket gotta get me one!) Some regular threw a toy at her which she proceeded later to pass back to her daughter which made me think once a mother always a mother! Even if she was entertaining a gang of fans!

I continued to sing my heart out through every number and have now decided that In Demand is my all time favorite Texas song, loved the video (I mean dancing with Alan Rickman in a petrol station! What more!) But live it just rips right through me, I had my eyes closed singing my heart out to the roof!!! Couldn't have cared less whether any one thought I was nuts or what! Bounced my way through Summer Son, Halo, Inner Smile, Black eyed boy and apologized to the guy stood next to me for bouncing on his feet a few times!! The bit of flirting I did with Michael was quite funny he even blew me a kiss as he left the stage! Swoon (he he!) Actually I also have to say that Tired of Being Alone is a joint all time favorite and classic sung live, especially last night! The banter between Michael and Sharleen is fab and I think she just bounces of his youth! The flirting between her and Tony is also evident, go for it Shar he is sexy! I also think Eddie has surprised us with such a lovely voice! I also enjoyed the performance of Gnarls Barkley's crazy, sung so well and with so much passion, don't know where I've been for seven weeks but I had never even heard this song before Glasgow!!!

The mobile phone light up was pretty amazing during a passionate acoustic Put Your Arms Around Me after she had teased us once again with a small amount of So Called Friend, just as we where all about to go into it with passion she pulls the plug, however is threatening to sing it all one night!! I have been a fan of Texas since they released I don't want a lover all them years back and I just wished I was old enough back then to have followed them. However have been with them on the last three tours and just hope there are many more to come. You can see that they still love the whole touring lark as are we the fans when they do it! To anyone reading this if it is your first Texas gig then you are very lucky to be experiencing them for the first time and for those of us who go time and time again, the first timers will realize why when they see them tonight or in the coming weeks. Sharleen and the boys are totally addictive and well worth the addiction. If any of you are reading this I'm sure I say this for many a person but thank you so much for not pursuing hair dressing Sharleen and getting together with the master known as Johnny McElhone all those years back. You guys really do rock and ending with Say What You Want in style to an already stylish night……..Cool!! And all the best for the rest of the tour! See you at Epsom………

Sorry so long winded got carried away!
