Le Zénith, Dijon, France - 16 October 2005

Road to Dijon:
It’s Sunday morning, 9h45, we had the meeting at my friend’s place before leaving for Dijon. 8 fans, 2 cars, 320km only for Texas. Most of us didn’t sleep a lot last night but we all were ready to go for the concert (almost on time !). In the other car, they all were sleeping whereas in our car we all were dancing and singing...

We had a stop on the road to have a lunch and how lucky we were to see Clémentine Célarié in the highway shop (probably only French may know her !!) I wanted to ask her if she was going to Texas but i gave up the idea, she didn’t looked in a good mood. So, back in the cars we weren’t far anymore from Dijon. We arrived at the same time than other friends of mine and we noticed that there was already a large bunch of people waiting at the gate. I saw some other fans i know, some i wasn’t expecting here. The journalists arrived, they have been welcomed by a Batucada band (Brazilian drums) which was pretty cool and made me dance. I couldn’t stay at the same place more than 5 minutes, so i consider the Batucada as a good opportunity to move !!

The waiting:
Shortly after, they opened the gates. I could see the 1st arrived running into Le Zénith, finally our turn came, i was the 1st of the band to enter and so i ran as fast as i could but those jerks closed the doors to access inside the venue so we were running everywhere to find an entrance !

Finally we arrived around the 4th or 5th row with my friends and Thierry’s family just behind me (Ally’side by the way :D). It was a pretty good place. Then a long waiting came, we were playing with the litlle red-diodes the gave us at the gate. The presenter tried to deal with the audience but i can say he didn’t have a lot of success. Poor guy he has been booed by the whole venue...

Texas:
6 o’clock exactly, lights switched down, music started, Ally arrived on stage during the intro and he started a slide solo guitar which got us immediately in the mood ! The whole hall was acclaiming Texas. They started with I Don’t Want a Lover, i started to jump higher than i’ve ever did in my life i think ! lol The poor 2 girls behind me we already fed up after the 2nd song which was Halo. Of course, this is my favorite !! J

Sharleen talked a little bit in French to the public. It’s funny because she has some sentences she usually says here, and so i shouted before she did “Bonsoir mes amis” ! However, Sharleen said to a someone that we (french people) have a cute accent when we speak english but i have to say that it’s also very cute when Scottish speak french ! J

Well the set-list was pretty much the same than the previous concert, they did WWAT, IOL, BEB, Can’t Resist, Nevermind, What About Us, In Demand, Summer Son, Getaway, Inner Smile, Sleep & Like a Rolling Stone with Paul Buchanan and SWYW.

The setlist was with no surprises, too bad they didn’t play Get Down Tonight. I think once again WWAT and IOL were the weakest tracks of the concert. It’s a shame they don’t do some other (old...?) songs instead of. Can’t Resist was really good. I listen to it very often and i think it’s excellent. Nevermind is still not my favorite but it was cool because during the song a lot of persons switched on the red-lights. I took a look behind me and it was beautiful. What About Us was fantastic, Sharleen was really singing it with passion. During In Demand we sang the “yeah yeah yeah yeaaaah” with Shar, it was amusing to take part of the song. Summer Son gots us crazy. Shar tried to deal with us, saying before SS that if we want some more songs we would have to go absolutely crazy on this one. Then they left the stage for the first encore. Le Zénith de Dijon called back Texas so ha rd that it let me think the band wasn’t expected so much. Even during the concert between each songs, we showed we miss them and France still loves Texas very much. So they came back with Getaway which i really appreciate live. This is a good tune in concert. And the big surprised was Paul Buchanan who came a long from Glasgow to take part of the show. Of course he performed Sleep with Sharleen, i would say it was “incandescent” (sorry this is a private joke) but there is good chemistry between them on this song. After that they sang Like A Rolling Stone which almost teared me out a tear ! Almost !! It was a very interesting cover version and i had a strange feeling for a while that Texas was american. Bob Dylan’spirit was here !

Of course the last encore has been done with SWYW. I gave my last forces for this one. So did the band on stage. At the very end Eddie even took Ally’s guitar for some kind of styled riffs !

Once again, i had a great time with Texas, the 600km we did in one day for them deserved it again and i would do it again if i ever have to opportunity. But please Texas, next time come to Paris it’s closer !! lol

After the concert:
After the concert, some bought some merchandising, we went to the McDonald (where i had my Happy Meal, yes Happy Meals are cheaper and you have a milk product with a toy beyond other sh*ts for only 4€ ! lol

We took the road to Paris and when we arrived in the City of Lights, the Eiffel Tower was sparkling since it was exactly midnight !!
