MEN Arena, Manchester 12 May 2006 & NEC, Birmingham 15 May 2006 by Kerri Oh my god I had managed to get front row seats to see Texas at Manchester and Birmingham (Praise the lord for eBay!!) If I hadn't had just started a new job then I would have tried to get to see them on the other nights of the tour. Having driven my friend Claire bonkers about how amazing they are live after seeing them at the Carling Academy Birmingham in October and lending her the back catalogue of cds, and when we both bought Red Book the first day of release, I knew that I had a new Texas listening and gigging buddy. And needless to say we were both blown away by the shear energy, passion and talent that we witnessed at both gigs. If you have ever been to a Texas concert then you will know what I'm talking about, you just want other people to experience how good they are and how amazing they are live! All the hits were cranked out one by one, my personal faves on both nights were the acoustic cover of 'Crazy', Sharleen's spine tingling rendition of 'Put your arms around me' and my all time favourite Texas tune 'Inner Smile' which when I hear it sang live with the lights and the whole atmosphere it just makes me cry, its just like an old friend, the only trouble is you don't want the concert to end as you end up getting lost in the whole magic that is Texas. The icing on the cake was when the legend that is Mr Peter Kay came on for the encore of 'Sleep' in Manchester and both him and Sharleen donned their outfits from the video, a big thumbs up for the white officers uniform ;O) I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Sharleen and the guys, you always give 110% and your talent and passion continues to shine through, here's looking forward to the next 20 years of TEXAS!!
