Concert review
Nottingham Arena, Nottingham, UK - 10 February 2001

by Lou Hunt

From the moment the band came onstage you just knew that the crowd were really up for this one, especially one lad in particular, but I'll come to that later.

Sharleen was on top form despite having a cold, which she told us all about and the usual crowd 'chat' got everyone going, again as Sharleen was trying to tell the story about the Taxi Cab journey she got heckled by one guy who she promptly told to 'p*** off and have his own f***ing concert'.

The stand out songs of the night for me were, Halo which they rrived on stage to, the up tempo Tired Of Being Alone which sounded amazing, Guitar Song, Summer Son, Inner Smile and Suspicious Mindswas excellent. However there was an absolute highlight, one where I noticed most of the crowd were in floods of laughter tears. Step forward Paul (and his backpack) he looked harmless enough, or I bet that's what Sharleen thought. During the cover of 'Pull Up To The Bumper' this guy managed to get very close to Sharleen dancing and 'gyrating' like a pro had his hands all over Sharleen who in turn was trying not to laugh all the way through the song she was loving it and this guy was really up for it too, it was a classic you had to be there moment. Sharleen was about to do the solo PYAAM when she stepped back still trying to subdue the laughter saying she was in shock.

As Texas concerts go this is the best one I've been to so far. I guess a good sign that you have enjoyed it is when you feel like the gig was too short, the hour and a half they played felt like it was over in 10 minutes.

All I can say is roll on next sunday and Birmingham.
