Concert review
Metz - Lille - Amsterdam - March 2001

Ghent - Metz - Ghent - Lille - Ghent - Amsterdam - Ghent in 3 days…
Bad start
We just left home and we already were in a massive traffic jam ...about 10 people in the bakery! But nothing compared to the 50 km traffic jam from Ghent to Brussels.
What a day for the national train company to strike!!!
The waiting
About 5 hours greatest Texas hits...26 hours of waiting...
In Metz we were quite lucky, we managed to park our car right in front of one the entrance gates..made the waiting not so cold, not so wet! It's always such a big dilemna which gate to choose..which one will they open or which one not? In Lille there were 6 gates..we managed to pick the one that was not to be opened..as we were told by the security about 1 hour before we could enter the concert hall "Le Zenith". Can you imagine...after about 5 hours waiting in the cold...but what did they care?? Luckily 2 french girls were so kind to let us take the first place in their row..because they knew we had arrived there first. "Merci beaucoup!!"
In Amsterdam we had the impression that seasons weren't changing after all....so cold!!
The food?
Well today..monday it has been 4 days since we had a hot decent meal...god that tasted good!! Chocolate, crisps, coke, sweets, biscuits..at first it sounds heavenly, but...after spending a whole weekend stuffing ourselves with the stuff, we want to go on a diet!!
The "tough" guys
In Metz a lucky french charmer "Thomas" was chosen to join Sharleen on stage..that smile on his face..need I say more!?
In Lille..again a boy was invited on stage..but a girl took the advantage aswell! There was a very friendy french boy standing behind us.."Daniel". He was alone..and ..what a coincidence...invited on stage. Afterwards he got 2 Vip passes! How lucky we were..as he was alone, he invited one of us to join him backstage after the gig! We couldn't believe our luck! That night there wasn't an afterparty..so it was just Daniel and Bea who got to meet Sharleen. That was so sool..about 15 minutes..a cosy get together !!
Any important news to tell? Well Sharleen said that she was very tired. They are planning a long break...new energy and new inspiration!!! She needs a holiday..who wouldn't!!?
In Amsterdam a dutch guy "Patrick" joined Sharleen on stage.... he was a laugh for sure!! As he said he wasn't a good dancer..Sharleen of course enjoyed telling what that means..you know...that they say about men who aren't good at dancing aren't good in bed either! Patricks answer was anything but expected: "But I'm no good in bed either!"..That was a such a laugh!!!! He shocked Sharleen..he must have been the first man to admit that to her! Might get popular with the girls that Patrick....if only for his honesty!!
Meeting Sharleen
It's getting a bad habit ...waiting after gigs to catch a glimps of Sharleen! In Metz we managed to mislead the tough men of security, we got close to the tourbusses...we were waiting there because we wanted to give a gift to Sharleen and her gang, belgian beers.
One of the "macho guys" spotted us and ordered another "macho man" to accompany us to the gates...you would wonder who looked most stupid?? Us or the macho gang?
As soon as the macho man had dropped us at the gates..we went all the way back again...and ...we proved that this macho acting doesn't serve to anything...the tourbusses were just about to leave but as always Sharleen didn't mind spending some of her time with us!
In Lille..Sharleen really was overwhelmed by the huge number of fans...we felt so sorry for her.. as Bea had just heard that she wasn't feeling too well and how tired she was!
Amsterdam ...after the gig we had a short chat with Sharleen (about red trainers and pink socks lol), Ally and Eddie...Eddie he's so friendly, he thanks US for asking HIM for a signature!! Can you believe that!!
Sleep
Hardly got any that weekend!! (except in our sleepingbags waiting outside the concerthalls)
Friends
No need to tell you how a wonderful experience it was to realise it's not just us who are totally, uterly insane about Texas, it's a comforting thought !! No matter where we come from or how different we are...we all share the same passion for this wonderful band.
Hope to meet you again on one of our Texas journeys!!
