Tainted Love
Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away from the pain
Your driving into the heart of me
The love we shared
Seems to go nowhere
And I lost my ride
For I toss and turn
Can't sleep at night
Once I ran to you
Now I run from you
The tainted love you've given
I gave you all a girl could give ya
Now take that give that
That's not livin'
Ahh
Tainted love
Tainted love
Now I know I've got to run away
I've got to get away
You really don't want anymore from me
You make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you think love is to pray
But I'm sorry but I don't pray that way
Once I ran to you
Now I run from you
The tainted love you've given
Gave you all a girl could give ya
Now take that give that
That's not livin'
Ahh
Tainted love
Tainted love
Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you although you heart me so
Now it's time to take my things and go
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love
Song info :
"Tainted Love" was a mega-hit for UK band Soft Cell in the early 80's. The band splitted in 1984 after which Marc Almond started a succesfull solo carreer, David Ball, his partner, disappeared into anonymity.
But "Tainted Love" wasn't a song written by or for Soft Cell but by Ed Cobb, a member of the squeaky clean 50's pop group the Four Preps, and first recorded in an intensely soulful version by singer Gloria Jones in the 1960's.
Texas performed their acoustic version on November 10th 1999 on the Jo Whiley's show. When interviewed after the show, Shar was asked why they picked this song? She answered "We were sitting in the house last night and couldn’t think what to do (laugh). We were thinking of our favourite songs and it just came up as the one to do. My friend Sam also came up with the same song!"
