Concert review
La Halle Tony Garnier, Lyon, France - 29 March 2001

Lyon (France) - March 29th; 2001 - 8.30am.
We're up! Ready for a wicked "Texas" day!! Our plan : to meet the band at the hotel before joining the venue with a bunch of friends. (Claire, Laurent, Béatrice and Christelle)

3.45pm
The band is out! Sharleen wears GUCCI sunglasses. She looks beautiful. She signs CDs and strikes a pose with us! She's adorable. Ally does the same. He's so sweet.

5.00pm
We're in front of the venue - La Halle Tony Garnier. The concert is sold out. more than 8000 persons are expected.

7.00pm
We enter. We run for the 1st row! We get it.

8.15pm
Reef is on stage. They are good I guess but I'm not sure... cause their sound is so loud that my ears need kleenex not to die!! In front of me, I watch a kind of Jesus Christ wearing skate clothes playing bass guitar. Pretty funny. As I'm not sure of what I heard with my kleenex in my ears, I'd say that Reef was not bad. LOL.

9.15pm
zero - zero!!! HERE THEY ARE!!! Texas live! at last.... "In demand", "Black eyed boy", "Halo". Sharleen's presence on stage is electrifying. She's funny, she's horny, she's beautiful , she's catchy, she has fun speaking french... "so called friend", "in our lifetime"...... She tells the audience her story with a french cab driver : "Je vais vous dire une histoire! Vous voulez m'écouter? Pardonnez moi pour mon français. J'étais dans un taxi aujourd'hui et le chauffeur m'a regardé dans le mirroir. J'ai pensé qu'il m'avait reconnu. Je lui ai souri. Ma chanson est passée à la radio. I love that!! Le chauffeur m'a regardé : je sais qui tu es.... ELVIS!" (I'm gonna tell you a story. You wanna listen to me? Excuse my french. Today I was in a cab and the driver looked at me in the mirror. I smiled as I thought he knew who I was. My song was on the radio. He looked at me and then said : I know who you are.... ELVIS!!!!). Sharleen asks Ally to demonstrate his french to the audience : "2 bières, s'il vous plait" (2 beers please)! The audience explodes....... "guitar song", "everyday now", "tired of being alone"...... Sharleen invites a guy to dance with her on stage ! Pretty funny moment when our guy does not speak english!!!!..... "Put your arms around me", "A prayer for you" (time for me to scream ALLY very loud!!!! Alllyyyyyyyyy !!!!! LOL), "I don't want a lover", "when we are together", "Summer son"...

Sharleen comes back wearing her black leather costume and blue sunglasses. ELVIS IS ALIVE!! "inner smile", "suspicious mind"...... last encore : "Say what you want" !! AMAZING !!!! Great show !! What an evolution since 1994 when I first saw Texas in Lyon. wow ! double wow !

11.40pm
we're out. we join at the backstreet door to wait for the buses.

1.45am
Sharleen stops the bus and signs autographs for the fans waiting outside. There are 10 of us. "Thank you. Good night" I tell her. I wave at Nicole (one of the backing vocals) sitting in Sharleen bus with Johnny.

WHAT A DAY !!! "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" as Claire would say!!! I can't wait to see them again in Angers (where Ally invited us!), in Paris on the 4th of April and on the 22nd of April!
