Sexy Shar sparks big reaction by 6,000 in intoxicating Texas show

SHARLEEN Spiteri may not want a lover but she had plenty of willing candidates in the Point Depot last night.

Texas played before around 6,000 of their fans in the sold-out Greatest Hits concert.

Giving in to her soft spot for Irish men, Martin from Dublin was pulled out of the crowd and danced closely with the Scottish pin-up as she sang Pull Up To The Bumper, Baby. He was the envy of every man in the place.

Wearing a mandarin collar and light denim shirt, what looked like shiny denims and her raven black hair worn longer, Spiteri was a breath of fresh air naturally sexy, singing her heart out, her guitar over her left shoulder.

After seeing too much miming by pop acts with no instruments in sight, it was surprisingly intoxicating to hear real music from the Scottish band who have sold over 15m albums.

"Shar, can I please have your plectrum," she read a fan's sign in the crowd, her Glaswegian accent strong. "I've never had it called that before!" She then gracefully furnished the fan with said plectrum.

Spiteri opened the show with Texas's most recent single In Demand and followed it by telling us it was very nice to be in Dublin although she was a little nervous because it had taken her so long to get here.

It wasn't long before audience adoration had her jiving around the stage and belting out hits, including Black Eyed Boy, Put Your Arms Around Me, her first single I Don't Want A Lover and covers of Al Green's Tired of Being Alone and Elvis's Suspicious Minds.

The night, filled with Spiteri charm and her natural easy way, ended with the band's hit Say What You Want.
