Buy Shar in these T-shirts for kids

by Karen Dale from The Daily Record - 14 May 2003

SCOTS celebs Sharleen Spiteri and Ewan McGregor got shirty yesterday - but all in a good cause.

Texas star Sharleen and movie hunk Ewan modelled a charity T-shirt with cash raised going to the latest CHAS hospice for kids near Loch Lomond, Robin's House.

Funds raised will also be split with MediCinema, a charity which takes films into hospitals.

Knitwear giants Pringle designed the limited-edition shirts, which will sell for £20 in their own stores and branches of Cruise in Glasgow and Edinburgh. And Ewan said: "All the profits from these gorgeous T- shirts will go to these two great charities and help kids and families alike. Please buy one for yourself and your lovely old mum."

Sharleen, who looked stunning yesterday, just a few months after the birth of her daughter Misty Kyd, added: "By buying one of these T- shirts, you are giving your support to two charities that do so much for the well-being of people of all ages."

Work has already begun on Robin's House, which will give comfort to sick children and their families.

A campaign, inspired by terminally ill four-year-old Robyn Watterson, helped raised the cash to build it.

But the plans were almost scuppered before work could begin.

Planners at the Loch Lomond and National Park Authority objected to the hospice at Ledrishbeg Farm.

But the move prompted a storm of protest supported by thousands of Daily Record readers.

Sharleen, a patron of CHAS hospice Rachel House in Kinross, spends days cooking for the kids and donated £100,000 from her band's Hogmanay Millennium concert in Edinburgh.

Ewan spent a week at Rachel House making a film to help CHAS raise funds for a second hospice.

The 30-second appeal will be shown at cinemas across the country.
