Sunday was not the saddest day!!!
Sunday March 18th ..7.30 am…alarmclock set..for once we are already awake before the alarm starts buzzing....must be something very exciting to do that day...
TEXAS GREATEST HITS GIG IN BRUSSELS VORST NATIONAAL !!
We are soooo excited...we had been waiting for this day for so long now!!
10.30 am..engine starts running...the drive from Ghent to Brussels should only take us about 45 minutes..1 hour at the most...weather still ok..they forcasted rain..so we count ourselves lucky..no rain so far!!
11.30 am when we arrive in Brussels...good news and bad news...good news..we are the first..bad news..it started raining!!!
We try to keep ourselves warm and dry in the car..from which we have a perfect view to the gates to enter the concerthall..wouldn’t want someone to take our place!!!
14.30 pm..hasn’t stopped raining ..4 other girls arrive at concerthall..you could see from miles away... they are coming to see Texas gig..they can hardly hide their excitement!!
We don’t want to take any risks...rain or no rain..we have to wait outside, otherwise we’ll lose that first place in front of entrancegate...some crew members told us the band would arrive at about half 3 to soundcheck...
3.30 pm a big tourbus arrives...still very rainy...unfortunately the bus doesn’t stop... in the garage we can catch a glimps of Sharleen..cute red hat..she waves at us! ..butterflies..!! LOL
We get aquainted with another belgian and a french fan...it’s amazing ..everyone worships Sharleen!!! ..as if she’s a real goddess...for a moment you’d believe this is not Texas Greatest Hits...but Sharleen Spiteri Greatest Hits!
5 pm..it starts raining harder and harder..first time we had such bad weather...it won’t take long now..we had so much fun chatting with other fans..that we even missed texas leaving concerthall again!...can u believe that..shame on us!!!
6 pm..body temperature is rising..though it’s getting really cold outside..feet are all wet...what we wouldn’t do for that lady!!!
6.30 pm doors open..we did it again.. we are the first to enter the concerthall..our legs are running faster than ourselves..God this feels good ...no one in front of us...the first to take the best standing place in the house..right in front of the microphone...this is always the moment that we realise that the long waiting outside in the cold, the rain was all worth it!!
7.30..support group will start their show soon..Bea needs to go so badly...to the lou..we didn’t drink all afternoon to avoid this.. but we’re all human after all..hope the music will start soon..it’ll make us forget how badly we need to go!! LOL
7.45 support group REEF...we don’t like them...we’re sure they are nice boys but...when we heard 1 song..2 songs..you heard them all!! LOL
8.30...what a feeling!!!! This is what it is all about!!!
9.03 pm curtain falls..wooooooooow ..heartbeat so fast...it’s so good to see them all back again...you can count on it ... we are “In Demand”!!!!
It doesn’t take long before Sharleen starts talking to the crowd...she reasures us she’ll talk slowly so we dutch and frenchspeaking belgian fans wouldn’t have to miss a word she says..Sharleen mumbles to herself she’d better get on singing ...this is where Bea first makes her presence known and shouted ..”You can go on all night long Sharleen!!”...Sharleen: “What exactly would you like me to do all night..singing, talking, dancing...?”..very soon it was clear..Sharleen really was in the mood for this..so were we!!
Sharleen was telling us about the night off she had the night before..but that she didn’t get much sleep anyway....apparently she had something better to do!! ...she said someone had given her a wonderful massage.... curious as we were...Bea shouted:”Was it Tony?”...Sharleen: “No it wasn’t him..he’s not a big enough man for me!”..she challenged Tony to defend himself..”How do you know?” Tony replied....Sharleen: “Cause my sister told me!”
As Sharleen is sitting cozy next to Eddy...just before she starts singing “I’m so tired of being along”..someone from the crowd shouts: “ Sharleen i love you!!”...this was it...this was her perfect victime to come on stage with her..she told him to come closer to the stage..”I’ll deal with you after I’ve done my thing with Eddy”...the crowd was getting all exited..
Sharleen: “ So where are you “..no escape possible for the guy...or should I rather say..we missed our “once in a lifetime”...what a coincidence..Steve was his name...Sharleen asked him what he found of the gig so far...oh god..the guy he didn’t understand a word of english..no matter how jealous we were..this was going to be a laugh both for Sharleen as for the crowd...” très impressionant” he said..in his best english LOL......Sharleen: “And Steve, do you know what they say about men ..the way they dance tells how they are in bed...?” Steve looked at her...with a look “Qu’est ce que tu dis?...(What are u saying) the poor guy didn’t understand sh*t...Sharleen: “Well, you know Steve, what dancing between a woman and a man leads to... sex..”...Steve then heard a familiar sound..” Ah oui sex..pas de problème ! “ ....at that moment the crowd was laughing out loud..he was so funny!! “Pull up to my bumper”...the guy was moving on stage like a goose...Sharleen enjoyed every single moment of it.. so were we....so was Steve..especially Steve!!
You could feel it..the girls so disappointed ....I (Kathy) shouted at Sharleen: “Why not take a girl next time?”...Sharleen replied: “So you want me to take a girl ...you never know....”.for a sec we thought she would have invited a girl on stage now..but no such luck..she invited Ally to treat the girls...Sharleen didn’t get the message...we wanted to be treated by her!!..she invited Ally..shy as ever... to show his bottem to the girls...TEXAS written on it...(on his jeans of course LOL)...Sharleen couldn’t keep her hands of him...”Very hot?!!!”, Bea shouted...”No,it’s not ..take it from me!” Sharleen replied...wow she was in such a chatty mood.
It was so much fun..we had totally lost track of time...before we knew , it was already the last song....unbelievable how quickly time passes by when you are having the time of your life!
So when Sharleen announced they would sing the last song..the hall completely freaked out...”Summer Son”..as if we weren’t excited enough yet!!
What a noise..the crowd really went mad......of course we knew what was going to happen..still we were so curious to see her perform “Inner Smile”....well no doubt ...the King might be dead but...the Queen is still alive and kicking!! ....No-one could get enough of it...”yeah” “yeah” “yeah” “yeah”...the crowd going on and on...Sharleen was impressed!!...so were we ..”Suspicious Minds”...loved it!
Big final..”Say what you want”...it had been a wonderful...if not best concert ever..no doubt it was both for the band as for all the fans.. a VERY SATISFYING NIGHT!!!!!!!
No luck this time..security pushed us back...no chance to get a setlist...try our luck next time!!
22.40 pm...oh how we hate this moment... 2 emotions..excitement about a wonderful night..but also a feeling emptyness...for couple of hours they were so close..as if we could touch them..but now..it all seems like a big dream!!
No time to be sad though..next weekend..we’re off again...another Texasweekend to come!!!
Before we drive back to Ghent..we try our luck again...we wait outside for a short chat with Sharleen...00.30 am mondaymorning...the tourbusses leave the garage of Vorst Nationaal...for a second we think they won’t stop this time....but we all know Sharleen and the boys....friendly as always....we are told that she still hasn’t recovered from a cold..but we are allowed to get our stuff signed..a crew member would give it to her on the bus to have it signed..But before we know our Shar is in front of the bus......how she looked gorgeous..a bit tired though.....but still standing for some of her biggest fans...
...what a woman!! ..what a band!!...what a night!!....
