Concert review
The Centre, Brighton, UK - 19 February 2001
by Amanda Glinsmann
Wow is how I'll start my review. I forgot what a fab
place Brighton was for gigs, smaller then Wembley,
which means nearer to the band.
Semisonic were great and got the crowd in the mood.
Texas came on at 9pm and from the start I thought the
crowd was great and I have to say Shar looked amazing.
I haven't been that close to the stage before and the
whole band looked great. Tony looked very cute I have
to say. To start with "In Demand" was great and her
voice and there sound was superb. My friend summed it
up (he wasn't a fan until the Greatest Hits and he said that
they sounded so good that if you closed your eyes
you'd think it was the cd).
The set list was the same as previous nights but I
have to say one of the highlights was "Guitar Song", I
love that song and to hear it live was totally
amazing.
There was this guy in the front row mouthing off at
Shar and told her to Get them off and just leave her
boots on, to which she replied Oh you like it with
boots left on. She pulled him out of the crowd for
"Pull up to the Bumper" and he was very reluctant
and could hardly speak when she got him up there. His
name was Les and he was from Dagenham which made her
laugh? Anyway the look of amazement and complete shock
when she started to dirty dance up against him was
sooo funny to see. He looked like he didn't know
whether to pass out or run from the stage.
Shar seemed so much more relaxed on this tour than
previously with her new dance techniques and I will
definitely go back to my home town to see them again.
I just wish that I was seeing more shows. I took loads
of photos which I will put in an hour development and
hopefully they will come out. Another highlight was
she was on a speaker and I was about 9 people back and
the only one taking photos and she pointed and smiled
for the camera, whether it will come out or we'll gets
someones head who knows.
All I know is it was the best concert I have seen in a
long while and the best Texas concert by far, and
believe me the others were great. Her voice and the
band just keep going from strength to strength.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a live video so we
could re-live the greatest hits along with thousands
of fans over and over again.
Anyway as you can probably tell I am on overdrive(put
it down to not much sleep and early into work).
Anyone who is going to the rest of the concerts enjoy
as I know you will. Wouldn't it be great to make up
some kind of collage of pics from the tour and send it
to Texas, so they could see our views.
Anyway better start some work before tiredness kicks
in.
Take care,
Love Amanda
