Texas opens its heart

Super generous Scottish rockers Texas are being paid a whopping £750,000 for their Millennium show and are donating the lot to charity. They have been offered the massive fee by promoters to perform at the Edinburgh Castle New Year's Eve show. Singer Sharleen Spiteri said she had been considering a quiet evening at home but decided that if people were going to offer the band huge amounts to play she'd rather do it and give the money to a good cause. The fee will be divided equally between a charity for the homeless and a hostel for terminally ill children.
